2019 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Calaveras Neighbors and Newcomers Club. CNN was founded in early 2009 to bring together area newcomers with the purpose of meeting their neighbors, promoting involvement in social activities, and becoming acquainted with the activities and resources of Calaveras County. Since that time, membership has grown to over 100 women.
CNN membership is open to all women residing in Calaveras County and the surrounding areas. One does not have to be a newcomer to join. Luncheon meetings are held once a month at area restaurants followed by interesting speakers
Although, CNN is a non-profit social organization, members participate in two fundraisers a year which has enabled the club to make charitable donations to non-profit organizations in Calaveras County totaling $23,650 to date.
Members receive a monthly newsletter with important information on group activities, monthly luncheons, and upcoming community events.
CNN activities have provided many avenues for fun and forming new friendships. Members enjoy special interest groups which include card and domino games, cooking and tea groups, a book club, Gals on the Go, and a monthly Friday night social for members and guest. Many have shared what a great need CNN has filled, in a somewhat rural area, where it is not always easy to form friendships.
